Verdant Kitchen Co. was born from a simple observation: Portland families wanted to eat seasonally and support local farms, but busy schedules made it nearly impossible to shop farmers markets regularly or plan meals around what's actually in season.
Founded in 2022 by Portland natives who spent weekends exploring the incredible bounty of Oregon's agricultural regions, we saw an opportunity to make farm-fresh eating accessible to everyone. We started by building relationships with small family farms from Hillsboro to Hood River, learning their growing cycles, understanding their challenges, and discovering the incredible variety of produce that thrives in our Pacific Northwest climate.
Today, we work directly with 12 local farms, creating seasonal meal kits that showcase the best each harvest has to offer. Our chef team designs recipes that let these incredible ingredients shine, while our farmers focus on what they do best — growing the most flavorful, nutritious produce in the region.
Every box we deliver strengthens the local food system, supports sustainable agriculture, and brings families together around meals that taste like the season they're in. This is how we think food should be: fresh, local, and connected to the land it came from.
